Our Staff


Andrew Schneider

Executive Director

As chief executive officer of the ACLU of Connecticut and the ACLU Foundation of Connecticut, Andrew Schneider has overall responsibility for management and operation of both organizations. Before serving as the organization’s Executive Director in Connecticut, Schneider was Executive Director of the ACLU of West Virginia for six years. During his tenure there, the affiliate’s membership more than tripled and its budget quintupled in size. In West Virginia, Schneider spearheaded a successful campaign to pass legislation to combat racial profiling and for those efforts, he was honored by the NAACP with the Freedom Award.

From 1998 to 2001, Schneider served as the Development Director for the ACLU in Connecticut. His other ACLU credentials include Development Director for the ACLU of New Mexico, Campus Groups Coordinator for the ACLU National Office, Board member of the ACLU of Virginia, and founder and president of the ACLU campus chapter at Washington & Lee University where he earned his B.A. in European History.

Renee C. Redman

Legal Director

As Legal Director for the ACLU of Connecticut, Renee C. Redman leads the affiliate's legal program supervising and directing all litigation. Prior to joining the ACLU of Connecticut, Redman served as the Director of Immigration Counseling at the International Institute of Connecticut. She is an Adjunct Professor at Quinnipiac Law School where she teaches Immigration & Nationality Law.

From 1996 to 2004, Redman was with Hughes Hubbard & Reed, LLP in New York City where she practiced Commercial Litigation and litigated many pro bono cases in immigration and federal courts. She clerked for the Immigration Courts in New York City and Newark, New Jersey, and the Honorable Warren W. Eginton of the United States District Court in Bridgeport, Connecticut. She received her bachelor of Music degree from Michigan State University and her J.D. from Brooklyn Law School.
