First Amendment High School Conference Is Oct. 24

constitution-mouse-180: US Constitution

Students, schools and free speech in the age of the Internet will be the topic of the annual First Amendment High School Conference on Oct. 24, 2011 at Saint Joseph College in West Hartford.

High school classes from around the state are invited to take part in a interactive program with law students in a mock trial format to explore the evolving issues around texting, Facebook, blogs and cyber-bullying. The program will be moderated by Martin Margulies, professor emeritus at the Quinnipiac College School of Law and a cooperating attorney for the ACLU of Connecticut.

The ACLU Foundation of Connecticut has hosted the annual conference since 2008, taking over from the Center for First Amendment Rights (CFAR) when it formally became part of the ACLU Foundation of Connecticut. We are proud to continue the legacy of CFAR with this exciting new conference.
