Chapter completes network of ACLU-CT regional chapter system
On Tuesday February 23, 2010 at 5:30 pm, the ACLU-CT will hold the inaugural meeting of the Southeast Chapter at the Waterford Public Library (49 Rope Ferry Rd). This chapter will complete the network of a state-wide system of ACLU-CT regional chapters.
Chapters provide opportunities for ACLU members to participate on a local level in education, advocacy, and raising the profile and effectiveness of the work of the ACLU-CT. Chapters host educational programs, recruit new members, lobby elected officials, and identify individuals or groups who may need assistance from the ACLU-CT with civil liberties problems. Each Chapter has an elected Board of Directors and Chapter officers. All ACLU members are invited to get involved with the Chapter in your region.
There are several upcoming chapter events in addition to the inaugural meeting on the Southeast Chapter in Waterford on Tuesday February 23, 2010.
Other upcoming Chapter activities include:
- A discussion of immigration myths led by an immigration attorney February 7 (Fairfield County Chapter).
- A General Chapter meeting and officer election on February 24 (Central Chapter).
- A debate on the legalization of marijuana on April 7 (New Haven & Yale Chapters).
