Andrew Schneider, Executive Director of the ACLU-CT, will speak at the Fairfield County Chapter Meeting on Sunday, May 17, at 2:30 p.m. at the Ferguson Library in Stamford.
During his talk to the Fairfield County Chapter Schneider will answer the question "Can Conservatives Find Happiness in the ACLU?"
As chief executive officer of the ACLU of Connecticut and the ACLU Foundation of Connecticut, Schneider has overall responsibility for management and operation of both organizations. Before serving as the organization's Executive Director in Connecticut, Schneider was Executive Director of the ACLU of West Virginia for six years. During his tenure in West Virginia, Schneider spearheaded a successful campaign to pass legislation to combat racial profiling and for those efforts, he was honored by the NAACP with the Freedom Award. In those six years, the affiliate's membership tripled in size.
The Ferguson Library is at 96 Broad Street, on the northwest corner of Broad and Bedford, in Stamford. On Sundays Stamford parking meters are free, there is also a municipal lot one block east of the library, entrance at Gay Street on the north side of Broad Street (free until 5 pm).
