Former national ACLU President Nadine Strossen will be speaking at the University of Connecticut Thursday, February 5, 2009 at 5 PM. The first woman to lead the ACLU, today Strossen is recognized as one the most well known and respected civil liberties leaders.
Strossen served as ACLU President from 1991 through October 2008. While leading the ACLU she worked tirelessly to increase youth involvement in the organization and to gain momentum for civil liberties within the context of the international human rights movement. On Thursday February 5, 2009 she will lead a discussion on the current state of civil liberties in our county, including the implications of the recent administrative and judicial decisions impacting constitutional law, civil liberties, and international human rights.
