Desegregation Efforts Fall Short in Hartford

State efforts to have more Hartford students studying in integrated schools fell short of the goal last year, the state says. ACLU-CT is among those representing the plaintiffs in the historic Sheff vs. O'Neill lawsuit.
The goal was at this point to have 35 percent of city students in a diverse setting.

The lack of progress disappointed plaintiffs in the Sheff desegregation lawsuit.

Under a court-ordered desegregation agreement, the state must reach certain benchmarks over the course of five years to better integrate schools.
