State Superior Court Judge Marshall Berger has until the end of March to rule on the plaintiff's motion, argued by the ACLU, to order state steps to reduce racial isolation in the Hartford schools and neighboring suburban schools. That follows final arguments in which the state argued against any judicial action. The ACLU argued for the plaintiffs in Sheff vs. O'Neill that a whole generation of minority students in the city have lost their chance at new and better lives, and another generation should not be wasted.
