We need your help. Please contact your legislators and urge them to support Death with Dignity legislation. We expect a bill will be raised this session that will allow a physician to prescribe for a mentally competent, terminally ill patient medication the patient can self-administer to bring about a peaceful death. It will take just a few minutes to contact your legislators. To send an e-mail click here.
Oregon has had such legislation for 12 years and 597 people have self-administered the medication. The Department of Health in Oregon has found no abuse of the law. A study has found that since the law has taken effect, end-of-life care has actually improved, with better palliative care and increased use of hospice. This legislation is also the law in Washington State and Montana. Please help us pass this important legislation.
