The ACLU-CT opposes legislation that contributes to needless background checks or that erects unnecessary barriers for people living with a record. Conversely, we support legislation that reduces the hurdles of background checks and helps people apply for and receive a pardon.

The pardon process is difficult to navigate, often adversarial, costly, and, according to many people living with records, debasing.
