We are joining forces with the Hamden Human Rights & Relations Commission to present our Plan Your Vote Campaign. We want to spread the word about the 3 ways of voting! "No-excuse" voting (also known as mail-in voting) is here! How do you plan to vote? Connecticut now has 3 ways: Early In Person, Mail-In Ballot and on Election Day at your local District. We’ll discuss strategies around sharing educational materials, connecting residents with reliable information, identifying and reporting voting-access issues, and organizing your networks to better understand our rights and options. Together, we can ensure that every eligible voter has what they need to cast their ballot in a way that’s easy and convenient. We're joining the next Indivisible SECT Monthly Meeting 9/14! Details below: Concerned about Trump's continued threats to a fair and free election this November? Want to know what you can do in Connecticut and beyond? Join us at Indivisible SECT's meeting on September 14, when the ACLU-CT will present the Plan Your Vote, Connecticut education campaign. As of 2026, Connecticut voters have the option to choose between three easy ways to vote and want to equip you with the resources and information you need to plan your vote and be empowered to make your voice heard. They will also share information on their strategy to protect the 2026 elections including ACLU national plans for election protection for "at-risk states." Cristher Estrada-Perez is the Community Engagement and Education Program Director. Gus Marks-Hamilton is the Advocacy and Organizing Manager. This a local Indivisible event held at the Lighthouse Inn at 6 W. Guthrie Place, New London, CT. The Inn opens just for our group! We will be congregating, socializing, and taking action together. This month, join us for a community connection office hour, where you can connect with staff, ask questions, and learn more about the work the ACLU is doing in Connecticut and across the country. Whether you're curious about our current case load, looking to get involved, or just want to say hello, we’d love to hear from you! The 2026 Connecticut Legislative Session has wrapped up, and many of the policies we organized around and advocated for have now become law. Join us for a debrief where we’ll break down key legislation and what it means for communities across Connecticut. We’ll cover parts of SB 397, now Public Act 26-14, related to protected areas from civil immigration enforcement and automatic license plate readers (ALPRs). We’ll also discuss HB 5001, which expands access to voting by mail, along with other key election reforms. Together, we’ll review what these new laws do, what they mean for Connecticut residents and communities, and what to expect now that they’ve passed. The legislative session may be over, but the work continues! We will use this office hour to give a rundown of the session and discuss what is coming next. We'll touch on our public education campaign around no-excuse absentee voting, upcoming events, and all the ways you all can get involved to continue to build awareness, power, and sustained pathways of engagement. Join us on Thursday, April 23rd from 10am to 12:30pm at the Connecticut Legislative Office Building to push for full implementation of no-excuse absentee voting! This advocacy day will focus on HB 5001, which would expand the options that voters have to participate in elections. We’ll make sure you have everything you need to engage directly with legislators and speak to why expanding access to the ballot box is critical to protect this session. To ensure we're able to provide all attendees with everything you'll need for the day, registration for this event will close at noon on Thursday, April 16th.
