Summary:
The ACLU of Connecticut and the ACLU Foundation of Connecticut (ACLU of CT) seek a Communications Director to plan, supervise, and execute the ACLU of CT’s communications strategies and department. This position is full-time and will pay a starting salary between $110,000 - $125,000. This position allows for hybrid work, but it requires in-person work at our Hartford office, including regular travel across the state of CT, and residency in Connecticut.
Position Overview:
The Communications Director oversees the communications department - which, along with the legal department and public policy and advocacy department, is part of a three-pronged approach to integrated advocacy at the ACLU of CT. Through their work and collaboration with staff, the Communications Director helps to and advocates for the advancement of positive narrative change in public conversations about the organization’s priorities and grows the ACLU of CT’s political power to energize the effort for civil rights and liberties. The Communications Director reports directly to the Executive Director and is a member of the leadership team alongside all other department directors.
The ACLU of Connecticut has a hybrid work environment with employees reporting to our Hartford Office weekly on Tuesdays. The Communications Director will be required to work from our Hartford CT office at least once a week, and job responsibilities will require work in Hartford and across CT more frequently.

Compensation and Benefits:
The Communications Director will receive a salary of between $110,000-$125,000 annually. This position is full-time, salaried, and exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act and applicable Connecticut law.
