This new law brings Connecticut's armed forces into alignment with federal antidiscrimination policies. Before this law's passage, state law prohibited Connecticut's armed forces from denying membership or promotion based on race, creed, or color. This new law eliminates "creed" to add religion, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, and gender identity or expression. In addition, this bill prohibits the state's armed forces from forming units or assigning duties or accommodations that result in segregation based on religion, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, race, or color.
