Smart Justice Reaction to Lamont Criminal Justice Platform

ACLU of Connecticut Sues Stamford Police Employee for Violation of Protester’s Rights

In a complaint filed in the U.S. District Court, the ACLU of Connecticut contends that a Stamford police employee illegally and maliciously violated a protester’s rights by confiscating his phone and protest sign and arresting and arresting and jailing him for exercising his freedom of speech.

ACLU Settles Pregnancy Discrimination Charge on Behalf of Cromwell Police Officer

The American Civil Liberties Union and American Civil Liberties Union of Connecticut have reached a settlement with the Town of Cromwell, Connecticut on behalf of police officer Sarah Alicea, who filed a pregnancy discrimination charge against the town in 2017.

Reaction to Video of Hartford Police Sergeant

ACLU of Connecticut executive director David McGuire had the following reaction to footage of Hartford Police Department employee Stephen Barone telling a group of people that he was “trigger happy,” and “could [get] a ton of money on overtime if I have to shoot somebody.”
