From the landmark U.S. Supreme Court case Griswold v. Connecticut, which struck down a state law banning contraceptives, to our cases to overturn the state's discriminatory ban on the use of state funds to provide abortion care for low-income women, to our cases to uphold the rights of pregnant police officers denied the right to reasonable accommodations at work, the ACLU of Connecticut has a long history of fighting for reproductive freedom.

Reflecting on the 2025 Legislative Session

The 2025 legislative session has come to a close, and it was certainly a trying session for all. In a session where roughly 3,800 bills were introduced, only about 380 bills were passed, rounding up to a passing rate of about ten percent.

SB 1068, An Act Concerning the Department of Public Health’s Recommendations Regarding a Human Immunodeficiency Virus Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis and Post-Exposure Prophylaxis Drug Assistance Program

Senate Bill 1068 would provide financial assistance to uninsured and underinsured people who need pre-exposure or post-exposure prophylaxis who cannot pay for preventative HIV medicines. No person should risk contracting HIV just because they cannot afford health care.
