March Office Hour: Mobilizing for No Kings

In 2025, millions of Americans came together in nonviolent protest to oppose the growing authoritarian actions of the Trump administration and affirm that this nation belongs to its people, not to kings. And we are not letting go of this moment. In 2026, we are building on this momentum and activating for another mass action. Testify to Protect Privacy, Civil Liberties, & Constitutional Rights in Connecticut!

On Monday, March 9th, we are expecting three of our legislative priorities—including legislation around protections for data privacy, accountability for federal officials at a state-level, and protected areas around the state—to be heard by legislators in the Judiciary Committee. The hearing will start at 10:00 am ET in Room 2C in the Legislative Office Building (LOB) in Hartford, CT. We are asking supporters to submit testimony or testify at Monday’s upcoming Judiciary legislative hearings on the following bills. HB 5449 – An Act Concerning Automated License Plate Reader (ALPR) Systems Establishes rules governing how ALPR surveillance systems can be used, how long data can be stored, and how misuse can be prevented. SB 397 – An Act Concerning Democracy and Government Accountability Protects people’s ability to hold government officials accountable when constitutional rights are violated. SB 91 – An Act Enhancing The Investigative Authority Of The Inspector General And Establishing Protected Areas Ensures immigration enforcement cannot occur in sensitive locations such as schools, hospitals, and places of worship. Your testimony helps demonstrate to legislators that Connecticut residents care deeply about privacy, civil liberties, and government accountability. Submit your written testimony here and, if you can testify in-person or on Zoom, register to testify here. Find downloadable oral and written testimony templates ready to edit below along with a testimony toolkit.

Protections Against National Guard Deployment

Join ACLU-CT and CT For All to learn about how Governor Lamont can effectively create protections against Connecticut National Guard deployment. Earlier this year, we witnessed the Trump administration use the National Guard in a deeply disturbing and dangerous way when he ordered the deployment of National Guard troops to several states. These deployments have and will continue to result in countless violations of people’s basic rights and liberties across the country. There is something Governor Lamont can do about it. We need Governor Lamont to protect and serve the people of Connecticut by signing an executive order that will set clear guardrails to prevent the Trump administration from misusing Connecticut’s National Guard. Now is the time to protect Connecticut residents and ensure that President Trump cannot deploy federal national guard troops into our neighborhoods. The event will be recorded and will have live Spanish translation.
