LGBTQ+ people should be able to participate fully in life free from discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity on the job; in housing; when shopping or getting services at restaurants, hotels, or other public places; and when accessing government programs and services.

Protecting our eldest residents is important, but public registries will limit the ability of people living with criminal records to contribute to society and build successful and fulfilling lives for themselves and their families

Protections against housing discrimination provide important supports to people in difficult situations. There is no circumstance in which it is acceptable for a landlord to discriminate against a tenant because of their status as a suvivor of domestic violence.

While no one wants to see any animal injured or killed at the hands of a human, doubling the potential penalty for this category of offense is not the answer.

All people in Connecticut have a right to safe, stable, and affordable housing.

The most frequent way that police come into contact with community members is through traffic enforcement. As with many types of policing, traffic enforcement disproportionately impacts Black and brown people.

The ACLU-CT believes that highly militarized policing should be defunded in favor of investing those funds into the programs, resources, and services that truly create stable, healthy, and safe communities. Highly militarized police units, like SWAT teams, turn communities into war zones.
