Legislators, civil rights advocates push for General Assembly to pass historic legislation
A federal judge today dismissed a lawsuit filed against the Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference and multiple school boards.
Civil rights advocates, including people directly affected by the criminal legal system, gathered in front of the State Capitol Building today to call on the legislature to pass Clean Slate legislation currently pending before the Senate.
Recent news reports have indicated that the Lamont administration may be considering housing children who arrive unaccompanied in the United States in the former Connecticut Juvenile Training School, which was a youth prison.
This year, lawmakers have a once-in-a-decade opportunity to act on the issue and make Connecticut the eleventh state to end prison gerrymandering.
Instead of conjecturing about potentially problematic measures that may not work, we encourage the state to focus on creating an equitable vaccination rollout that truly includes people with disabilities and Black and Latinx people, and on robust public education efforts regarding the vaccine.
