The ACLU-CT believes that everyone deserves access to safe and affordable housing, including justice-impacted people. When housing becomes unaffordable, there are cascading effects—like displacement from beloved homes, neighborhoods, and schools.

The ACLU-CT believes in a society where all people have equal opportunity to contribute to society and build successful and fulfilling lives. This includes ensuring that no person should have to choose between their health, or their family’s health, and their livelihood.

The ACLU-CT believes that Connecticut is stronger and safer when all people have a fair chance of accessing housing. Connecticut needs to invest in housing programs and services specifically for people leaving incarceration.

Every person living with a criminal record, should have an equal opportunity to build a successful and fulfilling life.
