As the U.S. Supreme Court has turned its back on nearly fifty years of precedent on the right to privacy, a lack of access to reproductive health services, including abortion, is already threatening people’s lives and futures across the country.

The ACLU-CT is dedicated to ensuring that LGBTQ+ people can live openly and freely, with full rights, personal autonomy, and freedom of expression and association.

Transgender people in particular face many barriers in receiving health care, including treatments specifically related to gender transition and gender affirmation.

LGBTQ+ people should be able to participate fully in life free from discrimination based on sexual orientation and gender identity on the job; in housing; when shopping or getting services at restaurants, hotels, or other public places; and when accessing government programs and services.

Protections against housing discrimination provide important supports to people in difficult situations. There is no circumstance in which it is acceptable for a landlord to discriminate against a tenant because of their status as a suvivor of domestic violence.

The ACLU-CT unwaveringly supports the constitutional right to seek an abortion. As anti-abortion politicians across the country deny our freedom and obstruct access to abortion, the ACLU-CT supports legislation that increases access to abortion.

The ACLU-CT believes that all people deserve equal access to reproductive health services, including fertility treatments.

Access to places of leisure like public beaches and swimming pools have long been sites of discrimination. Fair beach access is an issue that has haunted Connecticut for too long, with restrictive policies that are grounded in politics and discrimination.

Exponentially increasing the maximum fine that municipalities can charge for ordinance violations is likely to further entrench people, especially families of color, into cycles of poverty. What results is a two-tiered criminal legal system, where income level determines the outcome.
