We need your testimony to ensure fully funding for the CTVRA, early voting, and no-exucse absentee voting in H.B. 6864, An Act Concerning the State Budget for the Biennium Ending June Thirtieth, 2027, and Making Appropriations Therefor.

The ACLU of CT supports a resolution for a constitutional amendment, S.J. No. 35, which we call The Equality Amendment.

Smart Justice Leaders worked tirelessly this year to defend and advance civil rights and liberties in the Capitol.

The ACLU-CT believes Connecticut, like the rest of the country, must reduce the role, responsibilities, and presence of police, especially in Black and Latinx communities. This means, at minimum, diverting funds from policing to instead build safe and healthy communities.

The ACLU-CT believes that everyone deserves access to safe and affordable housing, including justice-impacted people. When housing becomes unaffordable, there are cascading effects—like displacement from beloved homes, neighborhoods, and schools.

The ACLU-CT believes in a society where all people have equal opportunity to contribute to society and build successful and fulfilling lives. This includes ensuring that no person should have to choose between their health, or their family’s health, and their livelihood.

The ACLU-CT believes that Connecticut is stronger and safer when all people have a fair chance of accessing housing. Connecticut needs to invest in housing programs and services specifically for people leaving incarceration.

Every person living with a criminal record, should have an equal opportunity to build a successful and fulfilling life.
