SB 993, An Act Concerning Local and State Cooperation in the Enforcement of Federal Immigration Law

The Trump Administration's federal deportation machine is tearing apart families and communities in Connecticut. Our state's safety, health, and values are better served by opting out of participation in this cruel system. We oppose this bill.

S.B. 991, An Act Concerning Access to Legal Counsel for Indigent Individuals in Immigration Removal Proceedings

Every person, of every immigration status, has fundamental human and legal rights that deserve protection and respect. Most children and adults in Connecticut faced with deportation proceedings, however, often do not have access to legal counsel to help them fight for their legal rights.

S.B. 992, An Act Concerning the TRUST Act

The pain and fear that the federal government’s deportation agenda is wreaking on immigrant communities is undeniable, and Connecticut should take every step to ensure that local and state law enforcement are not parties to this harmful machine. We support this bill to strengthen the TRUST Act.

S.B. 6, An Act Concerning Net Neutrality Principles and Internet Privacy

H.B. 7146 An Act Concerning Intimidation on Account of Occupation as a Public Safety Employee

This proposal would pay lip service to protecting police and corrections workers without actually doing so. It is an unnecessary distraction from efforts to improve safety. Unlike crimes against other groups, there is no history of crimes against public safety employees being under-prosecuted.

S.B. 870, An Act Concerning the Use of Drones by Law Enforcement

We all want to live in democratic communities, and we value government accountability. When police acquire and use surveillance technology in secret, without public approval or debate, it undermines democracy, transparency, and accountability for everyone.

S.B. 977, An Act Concerning Explanation of Benefits

This bill would take steps to protect that privacy by allowing people who share a health insurance plan with others and who are authorized to consent to their own health care to keep the details of their health care private.

S.B. 863, An Act Concerning Employment Protection for Members of the Civil Air Patrol

This bill would fill a gap in Connecticut’s anti-discrimination protections by ensuring that employers cannot discriminate against members of the civil air patrol on the basis of their service or on their absence as a result of their service in the civil air patrol.
